Useful information
Practical, general guidance for the events that show up most here. These are fixed texts, written by the portal from official recommendations.

How many stories come out each month in each topic. The portal started keeping stories in October 2026, so the series is short and grows every day.
A story can have more than one topic; the bar height is the number of stories, split among topics. Agência Brasil only publishes the recent feed: there is no way to fetch what came out before the portal started keeping them.
How it works
We show what Agência Brasil publishes, with link and credit. This site does not write news or issue official warnings.
Agência Brasil (EBC), through the environment and latest-news RSS feeds, checked twice an hour. The content is published under the Creative Commons BY 4.0 licence.
We keep the title, a short summary, the image and the link. Full reading is always on the agency's site.
Stories whose title or summary mention words from the portal's topics are included: burning, wildfire, drought, rain, flood, storm, El Niño, air quality, among others.
Each story gets one or more topics from the same words. An off-topic story may get through, and an on-topic one may not, because the filter works by word.
Fixed rules: 2,000 or more hotspots likely to be fire in 24 h; active official alert or emergency warnings; cities with poor or worse air; RONI of +0.5 ºC or more; 300 or more municipalities in moderate or worse drought. The level rises with 5,000 hotspots, 5 warnings, 5 cities, RONI of +1.5 ºC and 1,000 municipalities.
It only becomes a highlight if there is a story on the topic in the last 3 days. We also show the topic whose weekly story count more than doubled. No text is written by artificial intelligence.
We only show title, summary, image and link. The content is Agência Brasil's (EBC), published under the Creative Commons BY 4.0 licence, with credit. The portal does not write or verify the stories. The stories are in Portuguese.

A single source: Agência Brasil's volume of stories does not measure what happened, only what it chose to publish.

In a risky situation, do not wait for news: call Civil Defense, the Fire Department or SAMU.
